Sri Bhagya Jyothi Vidya Samsthe® is an educational institution which offers primary and secondary, higher secondary education. It was started on Jyothi Nagar, Mysore named as ‘Jyothi Convent’ with 11 students in the year 1983. Later the new branch was opened in Raghavendra nagar, Mysore. Since then, the school has grown up to 1800 students and 70 faculties. The school was founded by Smt. Jagadamba Sadashivaiah on May 16, 1983. It is one of the oldest schools in Mysore, which is well-known for its both academic and athletic achievements. The school is abbreviated as SBJVS.

 

The first few years of the school's existence was a real struggle for Smt. Jagadamba Sadashivaiah. The income from the fees barely sufficed to cover the cost of running the school. As institutions run by individuals did not qualify for government assistance, Smt. Jagadamba Sadashivaiah left an indelible stamp over the school. She built up a cadre on the strength of her reputation as an educationist. 

 

Initially Jyothi Convent(Aided) Kannada Medium higher Primary school had been granted aid from Government of Karnataka in year 1990. Slowly school showed signs of having established itself with a solid core of good teachers and a good and expanding complement of students. As the number of students continued to grow the need for a more spacious and less noisy environment became a matter of increasing urgency. The first step in locating a new site for the school and designing the new building were taken up. In year 1993 " Jyoyhi High School "(Kannada Medium) was opened later Bhagya Jyothi Primary & High School (English-State Syllabus) Unaided primary school in year 2003. Later "Leads Kendriya Vidyala" & "Bhagya Jyothi Pre University College" (Arts & Commerce) has been started in Gayathripuram in a CA site of 2 acres allotted by MUDA. A new building with spacious classrooms and playground has come up and hostel for girls will be started from this academic year.

 

During this period, the school built up a reputation in various sports. School always held a reputation for Kho-Kho. Institution has buses to transport students and staff. Smart classes have been implemented for e-learning. School has good infrastructure and well equipped computer lab. Since most of parents are from middle class fee structure is affordable.
